Wahine Construction Crew

POW Wahine Construction Crew from L to R: Loke, Kahai, and Jazz.

In 2022, a group of POW residents volunteered to join our village’s efforts to form a construction crew to lower our construction costs, provide opportunities for new careers and income, and open doors for other education opportunities—part of Twinkle’s and the village’s belief that “kuleana wakes up mana”. This group completed basic construction training and has been waiting for the time when they can contribute to building their new kauhale.

The Wahine Construction Crew complete a variety of tasks to help build the new village.

Some of the first members of our village construction crew to be put to work are Loke, Kahai, and Jazz—three POW wahine who have been cutting lumber, hammering, and painting on POW’s mauka property. They agree that the work is challenging and inspiring. They are so grateful to be part of this construction crew.
